Kids

When I was young everybody used to say "children should be seen and not heard" and we were expected to speak only when spoken to, stop pestering our mothers for sweets a bag of marbles or a new bike just before they finally snapped and to sit like little angels whilst our teachers drivelled and droned about such useless subjects as King Charles and the burnt cakes, the Greek Armada and what Horace Walpole was rumoured to have done with Nell Gwynn. Or something like that.  Oh, how things have changed!  Now noise and children seem to belong together, and any children that were foolish enough as to sit silent and attentive at school would soon have a social worker knocking on the door and taking them into care.
